External solid wall insulation is like wrapping your home in a blanket. Our installer will attach ridged insulation boards to the outside walls and then cover them in a weatherproof coating. You then choose your finish, from a range of options (modern render, pebble-dash, brick-work), so you can change the look of your home at the same time as making it more energy efficient. This extra layer of protection could help make your home more comfortable and save money on your heating bills. No interior work is carried out, so installing this type of insulation can be done with very little disruption to you. It's worth remembering that if your home is a listed building, within a conservation area, or is subject to other forms of planning constraints, then you will probably need planning permission. External wall insulation layers: - Adhesive is layed on the back of the rigid expanded polystyrene (EPS) board - Polystyrene boards are attached as a continuous blanket around the exterior of the structure - Stainless steel brackets support the EPS boards - The fibre glass mesh is then incorporated in the reinforcing plaster covering the EPS boards - Subsequently an intermediate coat of plaster is applied - Then a coat of primer is applied - Decorative finish render is then applied (available in a wide range of colours)
- Can be applied without disruption to the household - Does not reduce the floor area of your home - Renews the appearance of outer walls - Improves weatherproofing and sound resistance. - Fills cracks and gaps in the brickwork, which will reduce draughts - Increases the life of your walls by protecting the brickwork - Reduces condensation on internal walls and can help prevent damp (but will not solve rising or penetration damp) - Is best installed at the same time as external refurbishment work to reduce the cost - May need planning permission – check with your local council - Requires good access to the outer walls
